PS Vita - First Review

PS Vita, Yes the new and latest portable console from Sony, this arrived on 22nd February and as previously stated has hardly left my side!

For several months I was looking forward to the arrival and I can say I am not disappointed! I paid around £270 for the WiFi Version which also came with Fifa Football, Uncharted: Golden Abyss & 16GB Vita SD card

You may be asking why I bought WiFi? first of all I did not want to get tied down to another pay per month deal, yes Vodafone have an incredible offer on now of just £5 per month but seriously where isn't there WiFi these days?

First ill do a quick Pro's and Con's:

Pro's:

  • Amazing touch screen - colours and image quality are superb!
  • Facebook & Twitter apps really are well made and easy to use
  • Remote play feature to control your PS3 from anywhere! WOW!
  • Maps - mainly more for 3G users but Google maps
  • Playstation Store exactly the same as PS3, including demo's, exclusive content etc
  • Friends App - ports all friends from Playstation network
  • Trophies - Compare both PS3 & PS Vita
  • Near Application - see who's playing nearby and what their doing
  • Camera on front and back - very good quality!
  • Group Messaging and Group voice chat
  • Cross Platform Gaming - Currently Wipeout & Motorstorm
  • Simple to use and includes guide in system
Con's

  • Not many games released yet for the Vita, although many have been announced
  • Rear touch pad is ultra sensitive (I disabled this for Fifa)
  • SD card is just for Vita

Fifa Football Review

Ill start with Fifa, I have played around 20+ games some on-line and I have to say that several times I forget I am playing the Vita and think its PS3, the controls, graphics and quality of the game/console are incredible,  all the features and content from the PS3 version are included. would recommend this game with lots of on-line content and players

Rear touch pad can be used to make passes and shots but feel this is ultra sensitive but defiantly a start from EA as I have not really seen this feature used elsewhere however I did disable this as I kept knocking the back of the device with my holding fingers and giving away possession

Overall I would give this a 9 out of 10, the game is awesome and so like the PS3 version and deserves credit for being released with the console, no patch yet but one expected soon as the game has frozen once or twice during a season

========================================================================

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Another game that just makes me think WOW! im playing PS3, the controls are incredible and includes all features of the PS Vita's Capabillites, using the front and back touch screens to climb up ropes for example. Every item of the game when moving can be done in at least 2 or 3 ways, using the front touch screen to drag  items around or figure out puzzles

There are several pauses in the game where you need to make traces and rubbing your fingers across the page will make the trace marks - pure genius

The games graphics are perfect and fantastically made, the cut scenes are a joy to behold whilst the puzzles can be challenging but always fun!

I would give this game a 9.5, The best game out right now for Vita, There are so many positives and the game is quite long, I have barely stopped playing since February and only completed 52%, there is lots of bonus content to find and lots to do

One thing that bothers me is the use of so many cut scenes in a game, yes these are very well made and link the story well together there just seems to be so many!

========================================================================

Well that's enough from me, when I have played more of the above 2 games I will post more about them and also will add more content in the future regarding the Vita,

Please feel free to add me: Kano213
